Longview Lake in Clay County, Missouri is a great place to go camping. The park is managed by Clay County Parks, Recreation, Historic Sites and has over 6,000 acres of beautiful land to explore. This includes 2 championship golf courses, 24 miles of trails, 752 campsites, 2 marinas, swim beaches, docks, and shelters at Smithville Lake. The park also has two renowned museums and other historic sites, and two parks – Rocky Hollow and Tryst Falls – between Kearney and Excelsior Springs.
One of the great things about Longview Lake is the Camp Branch Campground. It is closed until April 1, 2023, but once it opens, it will be a great place to pitch a tent or park your RV. There are 346 campsites available, with both tent and RV sites available. Many of the sites have electrical hook-ups, and many are located along the shoreline with easy access to walking trails. There is also a playground conveniently located between Loops C and D, and shower facilities are conveniently located in the campground. Firewood and bagged ice are available for sale while camp hosts are on duty, and all sites have a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.
In addition to the camping, there is also a 9-hole disc golf course located within Camp Branch Campground. This Par 27 recreational course is good for beginners.
Another great camping spot at Longview Lake is the Crow’s Creek Campground. This campground has 406 campsites, with both tent and RV sites available. Many of the sites have electrical hook-ups, and many are located along the shoreline with easy access to walking trails. There is also a playground conveniently located in the center of the campground, and shower facilities are conveniently located in the campground. Firewood and bagged ice are available for sale while camp hosts are on duty, and all sites have a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill.
Crow’s Creek Campground also has a special loop for equestrian campers. Loop A offers sites designated for equestrian campers, and non-equestrian friends and family wishing to camp close to an equestrian camper are able to do so. Non-equestrian campers will just need to stop by the Camp Host Booth, the Parks Office, or give the Parks Office a call and we will be happy to make the reservation for you. Equestrian campers wishing to make a reservation can utilize the reservations website for their camping needs.
Camping and entry fees are required to stay at Longview Lake. Camping fees include park entry fees for one vehicle, and an online campsite reservation system is in place. If there is not an attendant on duty and you are arriving after 5:00 pm, please arrange to contact Clay County Parks in the morning to pay your camping fees and minimize the risk that another guest reserved the site you chose. If you are leaving the next day, or if you are only staying for a day visit, and no camp host is on duty, please pay the Daily Entry Fee in the HONOR BOX provided at each entry station.
