Sewer hose

In the world of RVing, choosing the right sewer hose is very important. Spending too little on a cheap, thin-walled hose can lead to problems. Such hoses can develop small holes due to abrasion or damage from UV rays, leading to leaks or even spraying. This is a serious issue, especially considering that the top of a full blackwater tank can be three feet or more above the hose, exerting a lot of pressure.

It’s worth noting that even expensive motorhomes, costing up to half a million dollars, may come with a starter kit that includes a low-quality sewer hose. These hoses can start failing in less than a few uses. In contrast, investing in a proper, high-quality sewer hose and maintaining it well can make disposing of waste water a much more manageable and cleaner task.

A good sewer hose will last a long time, turning what could be a messy and unpleasant job into a straightforward, almost odor-free process. The task typically involves just pulling a couple of valves in sequence to release the waste water. If everything is working correctly, the only liquid you might see is a few drops of soapy graywater from the sink or shower when disconnecting the hose.
