Dump Station
A dump station is a designated spot where you can empty the wastewater tanks of an RV. It’s typically equipped with a small concrete pad that has a brass fitting, around 3 to 4 inches wide, set into it. This fitting is made to connect to the sewer hose from your RV. When you dump your waste here, it flows into either a sewer system or a septic tank.
The brass fitting usually comes with a pivoting cover to prevent unwanted items like rocks from getting into the station’s plumbing. Dump stations are designed so you can easily drive your RV right up next to the disposal point.
Most of these stations also have running water available. This water is really handy for rinsing out your RV’s sanitary pipes and for cleaning the area around the station after you’ve used it. However, it’s important to remember that this water isn’t suitable for filling up your RV’s tank for drinking water.
As part of good RV etiquette, it’s expected that anyone using a dump station will clean up any spills, leaving the area tidy for the next person.
