Waste Water Chemicals

Chemicals for wastewater tanks in RVs are special products you add to both blackwater (toilet waste) and graywater (sink and shower waste) tanks. Their main job is to control odors. These chemicals come in two main types: “blue” and “green.”

The “blue” chemicals are the traditional kind. They work well, but they might be tough on some bacteria in the tanks and could affect septic systems in ways that aren’t always great for the environment.

On the other hand, “green” chemicals are designed to be more eco-friendly. They often contain enzymes that not only control odors but also help break down organic materials in the wastewater. This makes them a kinder choice for the environment.

You can find these chemicals in different forms – some have strong scents to cover up odors, while others are odor-free. If you have a lower-priced RV toilet, you might find that the scented types are necessary to effectively mask odors.
