Low voltage

Low voltage in an RV refers to the type of electricity that comes from the house batteries. This is typically a 12-volt DC (direct current) power supply. It’s used for a variety of functions inside the RV that don’t require a lot of power. These include running things like lights, the water pump, the control part of a refrigerator, and the igniters for cooktops. It’s also used for safety features like smoke and gas detectors.

In addition, low voltage power operates fans, the motors for jacks and slide-outs (the parts of the RV that extend for more space), and often the blower and control circuits of a built-in propane furnace. This type of power is essential for the basic operations and comfort within the RV, especially when you’re not connected to an external power source.
