Landing gear

Landing gear on a fifth-wheel trailer refers to a pair of motor-driven jacks. These jacks are typically linked together and are used to lift the front of the fifth-wheel trailer. This lifting is crucial for hitching the trailer to the truck: it raises the trailer high enough so that the truck can be positioned underneath it for hitching.

Once the trailer is securely hitched to the truck, the landing gear jacks are then retracted to their stowed position. This is done to ensure they are out of the way and safe for travel. The landing gear is an essential component of a fifth-wheel trailer, making the process of connecting and disconnecting the trailer to the towing truck much easier and more efficient.
