Converter
A converter in an RV is an electrical device that comes built into the vehicle. Its main job is to take the AC power (the kind you get from a regular wall outlet) from a campground electrical hookup or a generator and change it into 12 volts DC power. This is the type of power used in the RV for things like lights and small appliances.
Besides converting power, these converters also have another important role: they charge the house batteries in your RV. These are the batteries that power everything inside your RV when you’re not plugged into an external power source. So, the converter not only helps run your RV’s electrical systems while you’re hooked up to a power source but also makes sure your batteries are charged and ready to go when you’re not.
