Winterize

Winterizing an RV refers to the process of preparing the water system of the vehicle for storage during the cold winter months. This is an important maintenance step to prevent any damage that could be caused by freezing temperatures.

The winterization process typically involves two key steps:

  1. Draining Water: Ensuring that all water is completely removed from the RV’s hoses, pipes, and tanks. This can be done using compressed air to blow out any remaining water.
  2. Adding Antifreeze: In some cases, a non-toxic antifreeze is added to the water system. This helps to protect any remaining water from freezing and causing damage to the system.

Some modern RVs come equipped with automatic winterization systems, which simplify this process. However, for many RVs, winterizing is a manual process that is crucial for maintaining the vehicle in good condition, especially if it will not be used during the winter months. Proper winterization helps to ensure that the RV’s water system is safe and ready for use when the warmer weather returns.
