Leveling jacks
Leveling jacks are devices installed under an RV to help get it level when parked. These jacks are particularly useful in ensuring the RV is stable and even, which is important for both comfort and the proper functioning of certain appliances inside the RV.
In many newer Class A motorhomes and some fifth-wheel trailers, the leveling jacks are computer-controlled. With just the press of a button, these jacks automatically extend and level the RV. This feature adds convenience and ease to the setup process.
Some high-end motorhomes take a different approach. Instead of traditional leveling jacks, they use airbags. These airbags can automatically raise the motorhome to a level position on its own tires, thereby eliminating the need for separate leveling jacks.
For trailers, manufacturers often install rear leveling jacks. These can either be lowered by a hand crank or a motor. Their main purpose is to provide extra stability to the rear of the trailer, especially when it’s parked for an extended period. This helps keep the trailer steady, making it more comfortable for use.
